hi guys , Since joining the forum things seemed so serious that it's time for so levity at my expense. To set the scene, Fillmore East very early 70s and my first Dead show. I was totally nieve to what they did, so comes around
THE MEDLEY AND REPRISE a long one. Now being quite high
close up and loud for the moment said the most famous words
I can remember, did't they play that tune a half an hour ago and don't they know any other tunes.Well to be called the laughing stock for a few rows is putting it mildly.
Anyway after being clued in I had one of the best nights
of music w/ many more to come, moving from N.Y to S.F. and living their for 10 yrs or so. What a putz I was that night.
This is second attemt had the dreaded BAD GATEWAY before

Did they teach Spelling where you grew up? I mean, it seems to me that the letters should mostly be put in a certain order so that we may better understand what you are saying...

Gently .

lw , Capt. has a point . It would be helpful to understand your POV better .
I am a huge punctuation offender , just ask Ring. I bet sometimes she wants to slap an old school Funk & Wagnalls upside my head . Maybe a few extra times to burn off those 2 a day Birthday Cake meetings .

Birthday cake is canceled out by tomatoes and nectarines, you know (my little snack at the moment). That's a diet rule - eat something greasy or high-fructosy, follow it up with fresh fruit or veggies and the slate is wiped clean. Women know these things.

I try to think of you not so much as a punctuation offender as, maybe, a punctuation artist? Or perhaps a punctuation innovator. How's that.

Finally someone understands me .
I try and tell Deb this all the time . She definitely would like to whoop me upside the head over my punctuation . Drives her completely nuts .
I am a burgeoning artist I tell her . She laughs .

See I would have never thought of the sugar / fruit two step .
Another example , among thousands , no , hundreds of thousands , of why the women are ....
I just can't write it . Yet .

Your punctuation thing is actually interesting. It's like punctuation dyslexia - you don't reverse letters, but you reverse the spaces around punctuation. Probably a neurological glitch, the result of too much substance ingestion :)

Actually, his punctuation dyslexia reminds of (shoot, what's her name? She always said, "Nah" at the end of her posts and she typed as if she were talking out loud with a fake French accent except it wasn't fake because someone said that they knew her from a different forum---know who I mean?) She put weird spaces around her punctuation.

Ring and AR...what on earth on you telling my husband????? A punctuation artist???? We have young children in the house! Before I know it, they will all be wearing berets and putting ? and ! and , and . anywhere they want! Oy!
(And you have no idea how hard it is to take a man seriously when he is referring to himself as a, ahem, punctuation artist!)

Now wait a minute...I understood it just fine...seriously, I had to look back after reading your post, Capn. Suppose that reflects poorly on me, eh?

You no doubt mean well, but do recall, we gave up the Forum Police Squad when the dee--ficit (sp?) went south.

If we can live with spaces juxtaposed with periods, and lower case Dire-esque posts, not to mention my abbrev's (and mis-spellings), I suppose I'd suggest we just all accept most of what is posted as gibberish req'ing a great deal of tolerance (less it's Sir Rob).

Not that I am in the biz of saying what "is" or what "should" be anymore...thankfully.

Or, did I miss something else to do with LW? If so, nevermind.

A heartfelt thanks to all who did not gang up on me because
of a run on sentence or a couple of misplaced commas and periods. Truth be told I'm not fucking Hemmingway here and I still think it's more sour grapes for my fisrt post
where I tore the Dead apart. Things can and will get better
in the punctuation dept. While some slammed me others read it and got it. For that I again thanks w/ xxxooooxxxxooos.

lw , I am sorry we are here .
If people didn't care they wouldn't say a word . Why bother ?
Look down this thread . Part of it discusses my complete and utter lack of proper punctuation . It really did drive Ring nuts at first . And others . Still does .

I love it here b/c of no one 'owns' this place . We are left almost completely to our own devices and speech .
It's not bubble wrapped . but a rare and wonderful place . Yes , there can be a sharp elbow , but there are also Eureka Moments and warm fuzzies .
I have had my hide taken to task a few times ( and many more in my future I'm sure ).
Looking back I can see that I did not greet you yet . So hello , and I suggest from NFA on :-) ,

So again I take a step back, and all you said was right on target. For the few days of doing the forum I gotta tell you it's been fun. The recolections and observations some
more critical than others has just affermed that music is so objective and slanted to ones personal taste. Thanks for the hello and I'm sure there's going to be a clear headed debate in our future.

See the deal is lw , you are gonna look back in three months and want to delete all your old posts b/c they are going to look nothing like the one's you will be writing then .
But I , on the other hand , will still be working as a punctuation artist . Or trying to . You have to bleed for your art ya know . ;-)

Micah, I just realized. You and Leftwinger do the same thing, writing-wise, and I don't even know how you do it. OK, let me
try and see if it works
to write a post as if it's poetry
with
interesting punctuation at the very end .

BTW, LWer, love the story. The one about your fist frist fsrt frts time :-) That's a classic.

Why do I have to come in at the very end ? I didn't agree with that . I don't like being a rump roast .

And missy , I blaze my own artistic path .
At the end , when the accolades come in , the laurels will be placed on only one head .

Well, you're carving your niche. After all, ee cummings and bell hooks have a lock on the lower-case thing. Trends have to start somewhere. Ringo and I will help you on your way to fame by serving the all-important function of being the Guardians of Literary Orthodoxy against which you must fight before you can be taken seriously as an artiste.

3 months? Considering I've been on the internet for 10 years and still have to call for my teenager to rescue me from digital chaos on a regular basis, I'd say you're doing great.

He got me a b'day card that said, "Mom, How about for your birthday I set Happy Birthday as your cell phone ring tone?" Inside it says, "You couldn't really do anything about it if I did, could you?"
